Can You Have Two Analytics Tags on the Same Website?
Google Analytics is a free tool offered by Google to give website owners a glimpse of the traffic they are getting. It displays data such as the number of page visits in a given time, the average time spent on a site, the most popular pages on a site, search terms used to get to the site and geographic location of visitors to the site. While it is possible to have two different Google Analytics tags on the same site, it is somewhat complicated to set up and may cause data errors.

Using Google Analytics
-
To use Google Analytics, you must first sign in or create a Google account on the Google Analytics page. Once there, you can generate a tracking code that is customized for your Google profile. When you have the code, you paste it into the HTML code for any page on your website. Paste it somewhere in the HTML body. Google begins tracking its analytics data for the page into which you paste the code.
Two Analytics Tags
-
It is possible to enter two different Google Analytics tags or tracking codes on a page, but you should first ask yourself why, as multiple tracking codes can cause issues. If you wish to add multiple tags so more than one person can view the data, it might be easier to grant other people access to the data in Google Analytics, rather than adding multiple tracking codes.
-
Granting Access
-
To grant another individual access to Google Analytics data, the other user need to create a Google account and give you the email address affiliated with the account. Then, you log into Google Analytics and click "User Manager." Select the user from the "User Type" list. Click "Edit" and choose the profiles or sites you wish to grant access to using the Available Website Profiles list. Click "Add" to give the selected user access to the selected profiles and then click "Save Changes." The user can now view the data when he logs into his Google Analytics account, and there is no need to change the tracking tag on your site.
Adding Two or More Tags
-
To add multiple tracking codes or analytics tags to your website HTML, add the following code string after your first tracking code, on a new line:
_uff = false; // Reset for second account
Then, add the tracking code for the second profile underneath that line. Repeat for as many other accounts as needed.
