My Mac Is Not Printing Correctly to Ricoh
If you're having trouble printing documents from your Apple Macintosh computer to a Ricoh output device, your problem may lie anywhere between the two ends of the printing process, from your system setup to your connection and on to the copier or printer itself. To narrow down what's wrong, start by defining what happens when you print that shouldn't happen -- or what doesn't happen that should -- and translate that definition into your troubleshooting process.

On or Off
-
If you've ever called for technical support and been asked to check that the device that's misbehaving is plugged in and turned on, you know that basic steps make it easy to rule out problems that are easy to solve. Start by making sure the Ricoh is turned on and ready to print. Many output devices stay offline until they finish warming up, so your first output job of the work morning may need to wait until the equipment readies itself. If the printer's out of toner, out of paper or out of the paper size you want to use, it may refuse print jobs until someone fills it up.
Connections
-
Whether the Ricoh machine attaches directly to your Mac or you address it through a network, you need a working pathway between your system and your printing target. For a local connection, check your cabling to make sure everything's plugged in correctly. Networked devices require a check of your network connection. In some workplaces, individual users may have permissions for different sets of networked printers, so your trouble may stem from your authorization level rather than a technical problem.

Busy
-
Especially when you're printing to a big networked copier, you may be targeting a machine that's processing a long queue of print jobs. You can instigate your print operation, sit watching your progress bar crawl or not move at all, and begin to think you have a problem. Check the machine to see if it's stacked up with lots to print. If it is, reschedule your job for later or if you're facing a deadline emergency, ask other users to delete their jobs from the queue and print them again after your project finishes.
Drivers
-
A recent operating-system or application-software upgrade may have left you without viable driver support for the device you're trying to target with output. Check the support section of the Ricoh website for a driver update, and get yourself up to speed for trouble-free printing. If your Mac is a workplace computer supported by your corporate IT department or help desk, call for service to make sure you comply with policies and procedures.
