Why Is There No Description Showing in Google Places?
When people search for your business, organization, landmark or other place in Google Search or Google Maps, they can click through the results to view your Google Places page. The description section of your place page lets you write a brief synopsis of up to 200 characters. If the description doesn't show up -- or if the entire listing is invisible -- you can make it appear again, but it may take a few weeks.

Incomplete Place Page
-
When you create a Google Places page, you are not required to include a description. The place will be published regardless of whether the description section is incomplete. You can add the description by logging in to your Google Places account, clicking the "Edit" link below the place name, and typing in the "Description" box near the top of the page. You must click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the screen for the change to take effect.
Unverified Listing
-
If you have created a page that includes a description in Google Places, but the entire listing is not showing up in search, it is likely not yet verified. Before Google will display your page, you must click the "Verify Listing" link in your Google Places account. You can choose to verify by phone, text or postcard. After entering your contact information, Google sends you a short code. Typing the code into the place page verifies the listing, and it immediately shows up on Google Maps.

Flagged Keywords
-
Google uses keyword algorithms to search all place page descriptions for possible terms of use violations. If your Google Places page is flagged "Pending," Google has yet to clear your place description. The waiting period can take a few weeks. If your place is flagged "Needs Action," you must rewrite the description. Google doesn't reveal the keywords it looks for, but the best way to avoid a delay is to write your place description as accurately as possible, and avoid using words that are obviously unrelated to the place.
Google Help
-
If you know your Google Places page description is complete, verified, not pending review and in no need of further action to bring it in line with Google's quality guidelines, you can contact Google Places for assistance. However, Google doesn't provide a way to contact employees by telephone. You must communicate with them through the official homepage at Google.com/support/pages. Employees regularly frequent the help forum for user questions and troubleshooting, but responses may take a few days.
