Yorkie Puppy Crafts for Only Girls

Yorkie puppies are cute and cuddly.

Yorkshire terrier -- or Yorkie -- puppies are small dogs that weigh up to 7 pounds. A Yorkie puppy's coat is long and silky with tan, black and gray fur; generally, the black and gray colors cover the back of the puppy like a blanket, while the tan is on the head, feet and tail. Young girls can make their own Yorkie puppy crafts with their old knee-high socks, beads and pictures.

  1. Sock Yorkie Puppy

    • Make a Yorkie puppy sock doll with a knee-high girl's sock that has tan, brown and gray stripes. Insert cotton batting or synthetic stuffing into the toe of the sock. Make a ball out of the left side of the stuffed toe by pushing the stuffing up into the toe and pinching the sock together. Attach a small rubber band around the pinched area of the sock to hold the stuffing in place and make one of the puppy's feet. The other foot is made the same way. Add more stuffing to the sock until the foot is completely full. Make two more balls of stuffing with the fabric just under the sock heel in the same way you did the toe to make the front paws. Fill the heel of the sock with stuffing and add another rubber band to make the dog's head. Cut the top of the sock in half to make two strips. Add stuffing to each strip, just above the head. Fold the strip over and tie it off with a rubber band to make the ears of the Yorkie puppy. Cut off the remaining parts of the sock. Draw on the puppy's face with a black felt-tipped marker.

    Yorkie Puppy Album

    • Glue a picture of a Yorkie puppy to the front cover of a photo album. Use metallic or brightly colored embroidery thread to make words -- such as the dog's name or a person's name -- and then glue them onto the album. Line the sides of the picture with buttons in your favorite color or buttons that match the colors of a Yorkie puppy's fur. Add puppy decals or other craft appliques that go along with the Yorkie puppy theme.

    Yorkie Paper Craft

    • Young girls may enjoy making a paper Yorkie puppy with construction paper. Cut two 4-inch-by-6-inch rectangle shapes and two 1-inch-by-2-inch rectangles out of tan construction paper. Glue one of the long rectangles to a piece of paper, with the long sides going left to right, to make the body of the puppy. Fold the other long rectangle in half; glue the bottom half of the folded rectangle -- with the open side facing down and to the left -- above the top left corner of the first long rectangle so that the folded paper makes a head with a mouth flap. Glue the short rectangles on the long side of the body to make the legs. Cut a thin piece of tan paper for the tail and glue it on. Cut a piece of black or gray construction paper that is half the size of the body rectangle; glue it to the top half of the body of the puppy. Cut out a U-shaped piece of red paper for the tongue and two small triangles of red paper for the ears; glue the ears and tongue onto the head of the puppy. Cut a bow shape out of red paper and glue it between the ears to give the Yorkie puppy a cute hair bow.

    Beaded Yorkie Puppies

    • A Yorkie puppy beaded safety pin can be made by threading size E beads onto 11 small size 3 safety pins that are threaded onto a large size 4 safety pin. Colored beads are threaded on around tan and black beads that are used to make the puppy design. After the beaded safety pins are done, they can be pinned to a girl's jacket or backpack.

More complex beaded Yorkie puppies can be made with a beaded dog pattern, flexible beading thread, a beading needle and tan, black and pink beads. Beaded dog patterns often use the right-angle weave beading technique, which makes this beaded Yorkie craft appropriate for older girls who have strong manual dexterity.
