How to Adjust a Weil Mclain Steam Boiler
Weil-McLain oil-fired steam boiler is a tankless unit that has cast-iron sections. The steam boiler has a large water content and a quick-open top. Adjusting the steam boiler should be performed only when the oil or pressure levels move out of recommended ranges or the boiler is not operating correctly. Boiler Turns On and Off Frequently

If the Weil-McLain steam boiler turns on and off frequently, the thermostat may need to be adjusted. Check the area where the thermostat is installed to see if drafts or heat are affecting the temperature reading. Close off drafts or excess heat sources. You can remove the thermostat cover if resolving any draft or heat sources does not help resolve the problem. Once the thermostat cover is removed, find the adjustment lever arm, which is attached to a small disc with calibration marks. Move the adjustment lever arm toward the "Longer" calibration mark by one setting. Close the thermostat cover and turn the thermostat back on and allow the boiler to run. Let two or three heating cycles occur, and then make additional changes to the thermostat as needed if the boiler keeps cycling on and off frequently. In addition, ask a Weil-McLain or another qualified professional to adjust the heat limit setting on the thermostat as necessary. Normal heat limit settings are typically less than 5 psig.
Boiler Waterline Fluctuation

When the waterline in the steam boiler is fluctuating or water is moving into the steam mains, the boiler will need to be adjusted. Waterline fluctuation may be due to dirt or debris in the water, which should be skimmed by a Weil-McLain service technician. In addition, ask the service professional to ensure that the boiler is piped correctly according to specifications in the boiler service manual and adjust the waterline to normal height. Whenever the water from the boiler is hot and then turns cold quickly, some adjustment is needed. Contact Weil-McLain to have a service technician drain and flush out the boiler, as well as clean the boil on the unit. The mixing valve setting may need to be adjusted and the flow check valve should be installed if necessary to match the rating of the tankless heater. These steps should only be performed by a qualified service technician.
Burner Adjustment

Weil-McLain service professionals should perform regular maintenance, cleaning and adjustment of the boiler burner as necessary to help ensure proper performance.
