WildTangent engages in some controversial practices to market its games. New computers may come with a trial edition of WildTangent's software pre-installed, to encourage new players to register with the site. Some software -- notably AOL's instant messenger service -- comes bundled with WildTangent regardless of user preference. Although WildTangent's software does not meet the strict definition of spyware or malicious code, some users object to the fact that WildTangent places files on your computer without your knowledge and contacts the Internet without notifying the user. For these reasons, WildTangent files are sometimes classified as "PUPS" (potentially unpopular software).
Removing WildTangent Files

WildTangent's files can be tricky to remove entirely from your computer. WildTangent recommend that you uninstall their software using the special remover that you can download from their site. You may also be able to remove WildTangent software using the "add/remove programs" option on your Windows control panel. Very experienced users may choose to delete WildTangent files manually, with the help of a registry tool such as HijackThis; unless you know precisely what you are doing, however, this is not a good option as deleting registry objects can cause serious problems.
