How to Dress Up Like a Cocktail Waitress
There is something about cocktail waitresses that often make men swoon. You can duplicate their look with simple but alluring clothing and the right hair and makeup. Adopting a helpful but slightly aloof swagger adds to your overall appearance and makes you look the part.

Clothes
-
Cocktail waitresses are busy. Complicated, binding clothing makes no sense for their attire. A simple black or red dress, a black cat suit or black pencil skirt and white blouse are outfits that are functional but still stylish. You want clothes that make you look sexy but not promiscuous. Some establishments have specific dress codes or uniforms, so if you are trying to duplicate the look of the servers at a particular bar, ask the waitresses what they are expected to wear.
Shoes
-
Stiletto heels are sexy but impractical for a cocktail waitress who makes a living standing. Skip the practical shoes too – orthotics and sneakers are out. Simple black pumps with a 2-inch heel are comfortable enough for serving drinks and dramatic enough to dress up your outfit. Bare legs may be OK, but black stockings – even textured stockings – provide more coverage and sophistication.

Hair and Makeup
-
You may not want drinks and bar snacks from a waitress with big hair and garish makeup. Generally, cocktail waitresses keep their looks simple so as not to outshine the patrons. You still should look polished and slightly alluring, however. Pulled back hair – think a bun or low ponytail – stays out of the way during service. Foundation, mascara and light lipstick are enough.
Considerations
-
Dressing like a cocktail waitress does not mean looking trashy. Super low-cut shirts and minis are not the classiest choices. You may, however, don a simple apron with a pocket for a note pad, credit cards and change.
