Winamp Freezes on Shutdown
Having applications open on a computer's desktop shouldn't slow or impede the Windows shutdown process. If the computer freezes during shutdown when you have desktop audio software Winamp open, use Windows Tools to exit out of the program so that the computer can complete the shutdown process normally.

Winamp System Requirements
-
Winamp requires the following minimum system resources, according to its official support page: 500 MHz processor, 128 MB of system random access memory or RAM and Windows 2000 or later operating system. If the computer on which you have Winamp installed doesn't conform to these requirements, this explains Winamp's freezing both within and outside the computer shutdown process.
Avoiding RAM Overloads
-
Even if the computer you use has adequate RAM installed, running too many applications at once may compromise the availability of RAM, thus freezing your computer. One way to combat freezes is to only run applications you actively use, regardless of whether Winamp is open or whether you plan to shut down soon. The more often you run applications you aren't using, the greater cumulative strain Windows places on your hard drive, RAM and processor.

Windows Task Manager
-
If waiting patiently for the computer to shut down doesn't result in it doing so, you must force Winamp to quit. In order to do this, hold down the "Control," "Alt" and "Delete" keys on your keyboard, which result in the "Windows Task Manager" showing on the screen. Select "Processors," then click "winamp.exe." Choose the "End Process" option to force quit Winamp, allowing shutdown to continue normally.
Forcing Shutdown
-
If you can't get the computer to shut down using the Windows Task Manager, the last resort option is to force it to shut down. If you have a laptop, press the power button down until the screen goes black. On a desktop, switch the power switch on the back of the case to the "Off" position. If there isn't one, use the button on the front, or unplug the power cord from the case. Avoid using this option in all but the most extreme cases, as it may cause data loss or damage to your system.
