Chatting with others through Yahoo! Instant Messenger allows you to share information, including multimedia content, in a simple format. If you regularly share photos with your contacts, you may accidentally attach an image that you did not want a contact to see. Yahoo! Instant Messenger gives you the option of attaching a picture message and sending it to one of your contacts. The image you send then displays in the instant messaging window of your contact. If you use this option to share the picture, the recipient can download the image and use it as he wishes; in other words, you cannot delete it from the instant messaging window once it is sent.

Yahoo! Instant Messenger also gives you the option of entering a photo-sharing session with one of your contacts. During this session, you and your friend can upload photos from your computer, and you have the option of deleting photos once they have been uploaded. This is similar to uploading photos to a cloud server that you both can view, and gives you and the other person the freedom to share or delete photos.

If you close out of your chat box, the photo is not deleted, and the other person can still see the image. This means that you have to proactively delete the image from the photo-sharing session if you do not want the other person to be able to see it.

Avoid sending any questionable images through Yahoo! Instant Messenger. Once the photos are uploaded, the other person can see them and download them to his computer. If you send a picture that you would rather no one else see, you never know where it could end up. The recipient of the photo has the opportunity to use it as he sees fit, which could involve sharing it with others.
