My Nook Just Keeps Loading When Browsing Books
Browsing books on a Nook e-reader takes place within the device's library, or while browsing through the store to purchase a title. If your Nook continually loads instead of progressing through the browsing process, then you must troubleshoot the e-reader to determine what is causing the hanging or freezing issue.
-
Check Connections
-
Your Nook utilizes a wireless connection to view content through the store and to sync your library. If you are in an area without a wireless signal, or if the Nook is set to have wireless turned off, you may be unable to browse through the store of your online library. Move to an area with wireless access and check your wireless settings to ensure that you can pick up a connection, then try browsing again.
Charge Nook
-
A low battery may cause the Nook to act differently. If you are attempting to browse through your library or the store, verify that your Nook is sufficiently charged. Charge the device with the USB connection or wall charger if necessary. When the battery is low, your Nook may conserve the remaining power by limiting functions and disconnecting the device from a wireless connection. This can keep you from browsing through the store or any of your books that are stored on the online library.
-
Update Software
-
A software glitch may be causing a hang up while browsing. If this is the case, updating the Nook's software can resolve the issue. While your Nook is connected to a wireless signal, it will automatically receive updates and prompt you to download them. If you are unable to get a Wi-Fi signal, or if your Nook is frozen, use the USB connection to a computer to download updates and install them directly from the Nook site.
Reset Device
-
Restart your Nook if it appears frozen while loading during browsing. Hold the Power button down to restart the device. If the problem continues, contact customer service for additional troubleshooting. Your Nook may require a reset, which erases all settings and returns the device to factory condition. To perform a reset, un-register the Nook through the Device menu, then select "Reset to Factory Settings."
