Does Yahoo Support Pandigital E-Readers?

With the Pandigital Novel e-reader tablet device, you can browse the Web and access your email in addition to downloading and reading e-books and electronic newspapers and magazines. The Pandigital e-reader’s email application doesn’t support free Yahoo Mail accounts, but it does support premium Yahoo Mail Plus accounts. However, you can access your free Yahoo Mail account and other Yahoo services from the e-reader’s Web browser.

  1. Pandigital Internet Support

    • The Pandigital Novel e-reader offers a full-featured Web browser that you can use to access Yahoo’s online services. The browser works in the same way as a computer’s Web browser, so you’ll need an Internet connection to go online. The e-reader requires a Wi-Fi Internet connection for Web browsing. Connect to your home or office Wi-Fi network or log in to a free or paid wireless hotspot at a hotel, restaurant or coffee shop. To set up the connection, access the “Network” option from the Application Quick Launch Bar. The device automatically detects available networks, but you’ll need to enter the network password when prompted.

    Accessing Websites

    • To go to Yahoo Mail or any other Yahoo service on the Pandigital Novel e-reader, launch the integrated Web browser application by selecting the “Web” option on the Application Quick Launch Bar. Tap the “Go To” button on the browser’s Web address bar at the top of the screen and then enter the Uniform Resource Locator Web address of the Yahoo service that you want to access; for example, enter Mail.yahoo.com to view your Web-based Yahoo Mail service.

    Setting Up Yahoo Mail Plus

    • The Pandigital Novel e-reader includes an email application that supports the premium Yahoo Mail Plus email service. When you set up the email account, you’ll need to enter your Yahoo Mail Plus account’s login information in addition to the incoming and outgoing email server information. The incoming POP server is “plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com” with the “SSL” feature enabled and a port number of “995”. The outgoing SMTP server is “plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com” with “SSL” and “Authentication” enabled and a port number of “465.” In the applicable input fields, enter your Yahoo Mail Plus user email address and password.

    Accessing Yahoo Mail Plus

    • Once you’ve set up the Yahoo Mail Plus account, access the service from the Pandigital Novel e-reader’s email application. Select “Email” from the device’s Application Quick Launch Bar. From the email accounts list, select the Yahoo service. The e-reader opens your email inbox for the Yahoo account so that you can download and read email and reply to emails or create new messages. To send and receive email, your e-reader must be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
