A surprise birthday party is just one way you can surprise your husband.

One of the keys to long-lasting love is keeping your marriage feeling fresh. Whether your have been married 30 years or three years, every marriage can benefit from an injection of spontaneity and adventure. One way to do this is to surprise your husband, even if it isn't his birthday or your anniversary. The key to giving your husband a surprise he will remember and that will bring you closer together is to find out what he really loves. Plan a surprise that he will truly enjoy.

  1. Surprise Date

    • One way to surprise your husband is to take him on a special date that he doesn't see coming. Make reservations at a fancy restaurant that you've both been meaning to try. Don't tell him where you're going until you arrive at the restaurant. Alternatively, plan a date night with an activity that you know he will love, and which you normally don't do together. If your husband loves bowling, take him to the lanes and bowl together. If he loves to golf but hasn't in awhile, plan an all-day golf date.

    Friend or Relative

    • Track down a friend or relative to whom your husband hasn't spoken in ages. This could be a friend he's been out of touch with since high school, or a cousin who lives halfway around the world. Arrange for the surprise guest to come over without telling your husband. If someone lives far away, fly him into town and have him stay with you. Arrange for him to ring the doorbell and have your husband answer.

    Surprise Notes

    • Small gestures can go a long way when they are unexpected. Choose a day to leave surprise love notes for your husband where he is least likely to expect them. Leave them in his briefcase, in his dresser drawer and in his car. If you want to be particularly funny about it, put a note in his cereal box so it spills out in the morning, or put one in the fridge on top of a dish you know he will take.

    Tickets to an Event

    • One of the best ways to surprise your husband is to buy tickets to an event he would love to attend but doesn't plan to. If your husband's favorite band is coming to town, surprise him by taking him to the show. See if you can arrange for the band to give him a shout-out from the stage. Similarly, take your husband to a ballgame and try to get his name announced on the scoreboard.
