What Is the Java Jucheck.exe?
In order for Java to connect to the online server to search for and install updates, it must run a process in the task manager. Jucheck.exe is the Windows process Java uses to search for updates. The process runs in the background and only notifies you when an update is made available.

Symptoms
-
When Java is up and running, often, the following notification message may appear on the screen: "Java Update Available. A new version of Java is ready to be installed. Click here to continue." This taskbar notification appears on the screen when the installed Java application determines an update is available. By default, Java is configured to search for available updates automatically.

When you install Java and configure it to search for updates automatically from the online server, jucheck.exe runs automatically. Jucheck.exe is the process responsible for the Java update verification process. When the automatic update feature is enabled, jucheck.exe runs in the task manager and notifies you of available Java updates. Depending on the Java settings, jucheck.exe may proceed to download and install the updates automatically.

Updating
-
If jucheck.exe finds a newer version of Java from the online server, clicking the pop-up guides you through the download and installation process. If you're using Windows 7 or Vista, you need to allow the installation from the User Account Control box that pops up. This pop-up is a security measure to ensure you're authorizing the operating system to perform an administrative task. If you prefer to install the update later, download the newer version directly from Java's website or using the Java Control Panel found in the Control Panel.
Other
-
If you don't want jucheck.exe to run automatically, disabling the automatic updates feature shuts down the Java process. When you open the Java Control Panel from the Control Panel, the "Update" tab allows you to configure your automatic update settings. If you don't want to use the automatic updates feature, clearing the "Check for Updates Automatically" check-box automatically disables Java updates. Once disabled, jucheck.exe won't run.
