Iridescent makeup shades help your eyes stand out.

Just because your eyeglasses allow you to see clearly doesn't mean they should overshadow your dazzling eyes. Wearing glasses automatically draws attention to that area of your face. However, grooming and eye makeup determine whether the attention lands on your fashionable glasses or the pretty peepers they frame. Accentuating your eyes so they pop while wearing glasses isn't difficult, but it does require knowing a few key beauty techniques. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Accentuate Your Eyebrows

    • Well-groomed eyebrows help contour your eyes, even when you're wearing glasses. Give your eyebrows an even, natural arch and remove any stray hairs between them. Tame dark-colored eyebrows with a single application of clear, brow-shaping gel. Enhance light-colored eyebrows with a neutral-color eyebrow pencil. Limit yourself to one application of either shaping gel or brow pencil. Subtle attention to your eyebrows, rather than overt, highlights your eyes beneath the glasses.

    Colorful Contrast

    • Add dimension and depth to your eyes by using contrasting medium-toned eye shadow on your lids. Apply a soft, natural-color eye shadow, such as lilac or sage, from your upper eyelid to the crease. Deepen the crease above your eyelid with one stroke of a darker, contrasting hue. For example, buttery brown shadow in the crease contrasts well with the lilac shadow on the lower part of your eyelid. The two contrasting colors expand the shape and definition of your eyes, accentuating them through the eyeglasses.

    Add Volume to Your Eyelashes

    • Enhancing your eyelashes is like giving your eyes an ornate frame. Curl each eyelash for 10 seconds so the eyelash curves outward from your eye. Keep your look defined and sophisticated by using mascara within two shades of your natural lash color. Make your lashes appear layered and voluminous by wiggling the mascara wand through the upper and lower lashes. The wiggling movement separates and lengthens each lash, like ruffling a flat head of hair.

    Brighten Your Upper Lids

    • Use a brightening stick so the skin beneath your eyebrows gleams with a translucent, iridescent finish. Brightening sticks resemble eye shadow in a lipstick tube, and are sold in any cosmetics section. Illuminating your skin with a brightener lets your upper eyelids reflect light, which makes your eyes pop. Choose a pearly shade of brightening stick, such as pink or opal, and sweep it immediately under the contour of your eyebrow. Blend the shimmery shadow into your upper eyelid using your pointer finger.
