What Is the AOL Developer Network?
The AOL Developer Network is a community of developers that interact with each another and build Web 2.0 applications with AOL's open application programming interfaces, APIs. All participating members of AOL's Developer Network are able to access the latest APIs and acquire information on programming concepts, applications and their features, Web development and problem-solving techniques. AOL's Developer Community page enables AOL Developers to communicate directly with each other through their website's blogs and forums.

APIs Developer Agreement Rules
-
AOL Developers are not required to pay a fee to use the APIs in their applications. However, keep in mind that various APIs provide different types of features and may require AOL Developers to comply with the Developer Agreement rules to get to the APIs that they want to use. What an AOL Developer can and cannot do is usually explained in detail on an API's Web page. In addition, after an AOL Developer logs in to her user account she will be able to access APIs pages to explore information about featured developers and successful applications in the gallery sections.

Detailed descriptions and technical information is available on AOL APIs pages, including information about all of the APIs that the AOL Developer is currently using. When an AOL Developer clicks on an API icon, their Web browser will redirect him to another Web page with detailed information on it about the AOL API. The AOL Developer should read all of the information that's shown on the page to become familiar on how to use the API. For example, an AOL API page usually contains information on how to get started, API documents, sample code, forums and frequently asked questions.
AOL APIs Guides and Tutorials

If an AOL Developer needs additional information about a specific API, downloadable guides and tutorials in PDF format are available on the API's page that will explain how to integrate the API in various applications. When the AOL Developer clicks on the hyperlinks that are listed on the page, she can download and save the guides and tutorials on her computer.
