What Is a Kenmore Freezer Model 253.9200181

Originally introduced for sale in Sears stores in 1990, the Kenmore model 253.9200181 freezer is designed for home use. This model, and other similar models, were phased out after five years to make way for newer versions of the freezer. Like other standalone freezers, this freezer is designed to store food that will not fit in your refrigerator’s freezer. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Type of Freezer

    • This particular model of Kenmore freezer is a chest freezer. Chest freezers are standalone units and are independent of a refrigerator. Chest freezers can be upright, where you open the door just like a refrigerator. Or they can have a lift up lid.

    Dimensions and Capacity

    • This freezer is large. The dimensions for this model are 28-by-55 1/2-by-26 1/2 inches. On the freezer door, six shelves are available. Within the freezer are six shelves that are adjustable -- they can be removed or repositioned. The bottom also features a slide-out basket.

    Features

    • The freezer has a lock so you can keep your food secure. It also has an alarm, which lets you know whether the temperature rises to an unacceptable level. The alarm can be deactivated if you do not want to use it, though. An interior light comes on when the door is opened, which is not a common feature for standalone freezers.

    Similar Models

    • Kenmore has made more than one chest freezer that is similar to this model. Three related models are the 25312021101, 25312541100 and the 25312541102 model. Each of these models is an upright chest freezer, like the 253.9200181 model.
