What Is a TrayApp on a Computer?
TrayApp is the installation program for Hewlett-Packard’s Photosmart Digital Imaging software bundled with HP digital cameras and scanners. TrayApp installs on your Windows system via the HP Photosmart Digital Imaging CD-ROM. So, TrayApp is removed and when you restart your computer, an error containing the wording “The path 'C:\hp\tmp\src\aio\Setup\TrayApp.msi’ cannot be found” appears. The error’s dialogue box will prompt you with a Browse button for locating the missing installation program. You can also click Cancel to bypass the error.

A TrayApp error can also occur if the HP Photosmart Digital Imaging CD-ROM is damaged and the installation program crashes while retrieving data from the disc.
Repairing TrayApp Error

Uninstall HP Photosmart Digital Imaging using your computer’s Uninstall utility, click “Start,” “Control Panel” and “Uninstall a program.” Locate your HP Photosmart Digital Imaging CD-ROM and insert the disc into your computer’s CD/DVD-ROM drive. Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall the graphics manipulation program. The program’s uninstallation and reinstallation repairs the TrayApp error and restores the program’s Registry entries within your computer’s configuration. The next time you use a Registry cleaner or repair tool, deselect any Registry entries containing “TrayApp.msi” and “HP Photosmart Digital Imaging” after the Registry tool performs its scan. The tools perform a scan first, pauses, present you with a list of problems, then prompt you with an option to correct the problems.
