Help With Firefox Persona
Firefox Personas let you dress up your browser with a variety of colorful designs, including nature, sports and holiday themes. When you install a Persona, it needs to change certain settings in Firefox to work properly. These changes can sometimes cause problems, such as browser crashing and display issues.

Disappearing Personas

When you install a Persona, Firefox stores it in the Add-ons window. This window shows the last eight Personas you used, so older Personas do not appear. Download the free Personas Plus add-on to save more than eight Personas at once. The extension also offers other features that make it faster and easier to use Personas. If you do not want to download the add-on, you can also bookmark your favorite Personas for quick access. To do this, go to any Persona home page, click on the small star icon on the Location tab and open the Unsorted Bookmarks folder to view bookmarked Personas.

Some Personas change the text color that displays at the bottom and top of the Firefox browser window. By default, there is no way to keep the color from changing. The Personas Plus add-on, though, allows you to keep the Firefox text color from changing. Once you download the add-on, click on "Tools" in Firefox, then click on "Personas" and "Preferences," and click on the "Use Text Color" box to uncheck it.

Testing Personas in Safe Mode

Recently installed Personas sometimes cause Firefox errors. To find out if the new Persona causes the problem, run Firefox in Safe Mode. Click "File" and "Exit," then click the Windows "Start" button, "All Programs," "Mozilla Firefox," "Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)" and "Continue in Safe Mode." Safe Mode disables all themes and Personas, so if the problem occurs in this mode, it is probably caused by something else. If the problem goes away while running Firefox in Safe Mode, the Persona is the likely cause.
Testing Personas With the Default Theme

Switching back to the Firefox default theme is another way to test a new Persona. To do this, click "Tools" and "Add-ons." When the Add-ons window opens, click on "Appearance." If you are using Firefox 3.6 or an earlier version, this tab reads "Theme" instead. Click on "Default Theme" and "Use Theme." Restart Firefox. If the problem stops, the Persona was the cause.
