Firefox Is Not Recovering Tabs
Longtime users of Mozilla’s Firefox may remember being asked if they wanted to save their tabs when exiting the browser. Newer versions of the software don’t present this question, which leads some users to wonder why Firefox isn’t recovering tabs. You can restore your tabs from previous sessions via a few methods. When exiting Firefox, be sure you close the entire browser, not individual tabs. Any tabs you close before leaving won’t be restored in your next session.

Home Page
-
If your browser opens to the Firefox home page when launched, restoration of your most recent tabs is just a click away. Use the “Restore Previous Session” button on the bottom of the home page. You won’t see this option if you’ve selected another site to appear each time you open your browser.
History
-
You can also restore your previous session through the Firefox administrative panel. Go to the “History” link and then choose “Restore Previous Session.”
-
Automating the Process
-
If you want your previous session restored every time you open Firefox, you can set this up through the Firefox administrative tools. Go to the “Options” section and then click the “General” tab. Set the “When Firefox starts” line to “Show my windows and tabs from last time.” Click “OK.”
Privacy Considerations
-
When you set your Firefox to automatically restore sessions on startup, it may keep you logged into websites you were using the last time you closed the program. If another person has access to your computer and launches Firefox, they could access accounts you were logged into.
