A pivoting toilet paper holder provides an easier way to load the toilet paper on the holder than traditional spring-loaded toilet paper holders. One side of the pivoting arm that holds the paper roll lifts up so you can slide the roll onto the arm. After you slide the roll onto the arm, you lower the arm lower back down to the stationary arm holder. This keeps the toilet paper on the holder.
Manufacturers keep creating larger rolls of toilet paper so one roll will last longer than regular rolls of paper. Manufacturers of pivoting toilet paper holders make the depth of the holders very similar or the same in size. The depth of the holder determines if the mega roll of paper will fit.
What Is A Pivot Toilet Paper Holder?
Pivot Holder Depth
Although pivoting holders have a standard width of 4-1/2 inches, the depth of a pivoting toilet paper holder is slightly different and varies between different manufacturers. However, most pivoting holders will have a depth of 3-1/8 inches. For example, Kohler's Alteo and Moen's Bradshaw toilet paper holders have a depth of 3-1/8 inches.
Mega toilet paper rolls have a depth of 3-1/2 inches minimum. Some varieties may be a little larger, but typical brands, such as Soft and Gentle and Great Value, are 3-1/2 inches deep. The 3-1/2-inch rolls of toilet paper will not fit on a pivoting toilet paper holder that has a depth of 3-1/8 inches.
Difference Among Spring-Loaded Holders
Spring-loaded toilet paper holders are much different from pivoting holders. The arm of a spring-loaded holder slides inward to detach it from the arm that holds the roll in place. There are special spring-loaded toilet paper holders designed for mega-sized rolls that have a depth of 3-1/2 inches to accommodate the larger rolls.
