Hotmail Password Reset Problems
When attempting to reset your Hotmail password, you can encounter problems such as not successfully entering the answer to your security question. You are presented with a few options to reset your account if you are unable to remember your password. If you are unable to bypass the security options to reset your password, this can present a problem for you.
-
Password Recovery
-
Hotmail offers the option to reset your password if you have forgotten it. By successfully passing the reset options, you can enter a new password and gain immediate access to your account. The security features you need to bypass are in place to ensure the security of your account. Even if you do have access to the account, you can reset the password without logging into the account if you are concerned with others gaining access to it.
Mobile Phone
-
If your mobile phone number was included on your Hotmail registration form, you can request that a reset code is sent via text message. You can input the reset code in the password recovery form to gain access to your account. After you enter the code, you will be prompted to choose another password to access Hotmail. If you no longer have access to the mobile phone, you cannot use this method to reset your password.
-
Security Question
-
During registration to set up your Hotmail account, you were required to select a security question. If you cannot reset your password using other methods, you can enter the answer to your security question and reset your password. When the question is displayed, you have a limited number of times to enter the answer to the question before you are locked out of the account for up to 24 hours. If you cannot recall the answer, your options for resetting the password are limited.
Customer Support
-
As a last resort, if you continue to experience problems with resetting your Hotmail password, you can contact customer support. To regain access to your account, you have to provide as much information as possible about your account. Past information includes your personal information, old passwords and the subject lines of any emails you recently sent. If your billing information is linked to your Hotmail account, you should include your credit or debit card information.
