Popping Noise on My GE Profile Range PGB975SEMSS
Your PGB975SEMSS GE Profile Gas range can make a variety of sounds that you might interpret as popping sounds. However, they are not usually cause for concern. Rather, they are part of the normal operation of your range, Does this Spark an idea?
-
Popping Sound
-
A popping sound coming from your GE range is usually an indication that the range is working the way it is supposed to work. The popping is the sound of the metal inside the range heating and cooling as the range heats up and cools down as part of its cooking and cleaning functions.
Crackling Sound
-
You may describe the sound you hear from the range as a crackling sound. This sound is also caused by metal inside heating and cooling. You should hear this sound only during or just after a cooking or cleaning function completes.
-
Fan Noise
-
GE Profile ranges have convection fans that you may hear turn on and turn off all by themselves. This is a normal sound when you are using the convection oven. The convection fan continues to run and stop until the convection cooking cycle completes or until you open the oven door.
Clicking Noise
-
The range makes a clicking noise when you turn any of the surface burners to the "Lite" setting. The clicking noise is the sound the surface burners make as they ignite a spark. Once the burner lights, you turn the dial to the heat setting you want; this should cause the clicking sound to end. Turning the burner off also turns off the clicking sound.
