TV Streaming Add-ons for Firefox
The Internet browser Firefox is capable of accessing and displaying websites containing music, videos and animation. The browser is also capable of streaming television programs and movies via a special component known as a TV streaming add-on. An add-on is a component that expands Firefox’s abilities and themes. TV streaming add-ons are free to download and include a user-friendly interface.

Availability and Compatibility
-
TV streaming add-ons, including TV-FOX, Kido'z TV, Better JTV and Justin.TV, are available directly from Mozilla, Firefox’s developer. The add-ons are also available from third-party Firefox add-on developers. The files install within Firefox’s Add-ons utility and do not require a product key or additional components. The add-ons are compatible with Firefox versions on Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. Some TV streaming add-ons require the Windows Media Player for Firefox or similar media player plug-in to play streaming television programs within the browser.
Search Interface
-
Once the add-on is installed, a toolbar with a search box appears below Firefox’s main toolbar. The search box lets you enter keywords related to the television show or movie you want to watch. The search results appear in your browser window. Click the result link you want to open to access the program or movie.

Channels
-
TV streaming add-ons let you access television channels from around the world. Next to or near the toolbar’s search box, you will find icons containing down arrows for clicking. One icon sorts the television channels by country, one sorts by genre, one sorts by state and one sorts the channels by category. Click the icon you want, and then click the sub-menu or channel you want to access. Not all television channels are streaming content at all times. If you notice a channel not streaming a program or movie, the channel is "off air" and may start streaming programming later.
Playing
-
After clicking one of the icon or search result links, a popup box will appear with a TV-like screen and the channel will start playing or a play button icon, an arrow facing the left, will appear. Click the play icon to start playing the television program or movie. Click the stop or pause icon, solid block or icon with two lines, to stop the channel, program or movie from playing.
Internet Connection
-
Streaming television programs and movies require a broadband or high-speed digital subscriber line Internet connection. Using a dial-up or slow Internet connection results in the programs and movies stopping, and presenting communication errors. You may also experience “Buffering” errors as the add-on is trying to retrieve and display the television program or movie.
