What Is JAC Paper?

What Is JAC Paper? thumbnail
JAC paper is popular among scrapbook enthusiasts because of its self-adhesive properties.

JAC Graphics manufactures a wide variety of self-adhesive products. While JAC's digital printing, sign making, screen printing, reflective and labels focus on vinyl, film and other non-paper products, the offset printing line is comprised mostly of paper products,. These products are used for general purpose and high-quality stickers and labels, forms and eye-catching flyers and advertisements.

  1. Offset Printing

    • Offset printing is the process by which ink is transferred from a source plate to a blanket and then ultimately to the finished product. JAC offers 37 different products in this offset printing line. Of those 37 products, just under half -- 18 of them -- are paper products; the rest are made from non-paper materials such as vinyl or film.

    Adhesive Types

    • JAC's offset printing paper products have three adhesive types: permanent, removable and supertack. This refers to the strength of the adhesive on the paper. Permanent adhesive JAC paper cannot be removed once its adhesive backing is applied to another surface, unlike the removable JAC paper which can be removed after application. The third type of adhesive -- supertack -- is the most durable of all. It is not only permanent, but designed for all weather, outdoor use.

    HP Indigo Digital Printing Line

    • Within the JAC offset printing line is a subset of products designed especially for use with Hewlett Packard's Indigo Digital Printing System. The DigiLabel line includes three paper-based products. The DigiLabel PET Clear Gloss uses paper with a clear gloss coat; the adhesive for this product is permanent. The other two DigiLabel paper products -- the PP Clear Gloss and the PP White Gloss -- use a removable adhesive instead.

    Coated vs Uncoated Paper

    • Most of the products in JAC's offset printing line include some type of coating. For example, the Brilliant paper is cast-coated, while the TE-COAT paper is special purpose paper, with a coating that makes the paper both grease and oil-proof. The Script line, however, is uncoated; instead, this is vellum paper. The Script line of products includes four different varieties: Script Colors, Script White, Script 115 and Script Opaque. These four products are all uncoated and wood-free.

    White Or Colors

    • While white is the standard color for JAC's offset printing products, two styles are available in a range of colors. The Radial line is available in four different colors: fluorescent red, fluorescent green, fluorescent yellow and fluorescent orange. The Script Colors line is also available in four colors: yellow, red, blue and green.

    Availability

    • JAC Graphics is a division of the Avery Dennison Corporation. Based in Germany, JAC focuses on production and marketing for the European marketplace. Although it does sell its products outside of the European subcontinent, JAC does not have any distributors located in the United States or elsewhere in North America.
