What Does it Mean When it Says "User Cannot Be Found" on Skype?
Skype is incredibly practical for keeping open touch with your friends, family or professional contacts through the instant messaging, audio conferencing and video chatting features. All you need to chat on Skype is the application itself, an Internet connection and Skype contacts. You can add people to your Skype contact list by searching for a full name or email address, but sometimes you might receive a “User Cannot Be Found” message. If you repeatedly receive this message, several possible reasons could be the culprit.
-
Incorrect Information
-
If you’re positive that one of your friends or contacts is on Skype and you receive the “User Cannot Be Found” message, it’s possible that you are entering the wrong information. You can use an email address or a full name to look for people on Skype, but a misspelled name or email can leave you with no results. Verify that you are typing the correct spelling for the person's full name or email address, paying attention to punctuation for email addresses.
User Is Not Online
-
Another possible reason why Skype says, "User Cannot Be Found" could be that your contact is simply not online. Verify that the message, phone or video icon next to the user’s name is green, which signifies he is online and available. The “User Cannot Be Found” message can also pop up when you are trying to contact someone who is logged into Skype with a mobile device that is locked or on standby.
-
User Deleted Skype Account
-
If a contact deletes her Skype account, you don't get a notification message. That means that you wouldn't know unless the person told you. If you repeatedly receive the "User Cannot Be Found" message when searching for a contact, it's possible the person deleted her account on Skype. This can sometimes be the case even when the contact is still visible in your Skype contacts list.
User Blocked You
-
Skype give you the option to block users when you don’t want them to be able to find or contact you. If you repeatedly receive the “User Cannot Be Found” and you are certain you have the correct information, it’s possible the user blocked you. Unfortunately, as of the time of publication, Skype does not offer a method for finding out if a particular user blocked you.
