Google Maps Satellite Is Blurry & Out of Date
Google Maps presents a range of maps for use directly from Google and from various other sites. The satellite presentation shows actual photographs taken by satellite photography and downloaded -- not real-time pictures from satellites. If a photo is blurry and out-of-date, there is nothing you can do about it.

Satellite Photo Quality
-
Google acquires satellite photos to include in its database from various sources. As you zoom in, images may become blurry, although Google performs system upgrades regularly and aims to ensure that all satellite photos are high-quality images.
Map Modes
-
The three modes employed by Google Maps at the time of publication include Satellite, Map and Earth. The satellite mode presents actual photographs with superimposed information identifying areas, streets and local landmarks. Toggle the information on and off by clicking "Labels" in the drop-down menu that appears when your cursor passes over "Map" or by clicking "Hybrid." The "Map" mode shows computer-generated maps much like a road map. "Earth" mode shows a 3-D presentation of the satellite view, but you must download software from Google to use it.

Additional Features
-
Google receives information from various sources around the world to add to its database and include in map presentations. At the time of publication, it offers traffic and weather information for some areas. The service also offers translations into local languages for location names, including various countries, cities, areas, streets and landmarks. Google allows websites to use its maps under certain conditions. Sites that use this service may add information or additional illustrations related to their areas of expertise.
Operating the Maps
-
The Google Maps homepage displays a map of the world. On the scale on the left side, zoom in by clicking and dragging the sliding control or move in steps by clicking on "+" to zoom in or "-" to zoom out. When making rapid changes, you may need to wait for the presentation to refresh, depending on your Internet speed. Many features toggle on and off by clicking on their labels, and many feature options appear as your cursor passes over certain areas or labels.
