Bobbers are just as valuable to crafters as they are to fishermen.

Most people think of fishing when they see a brightly colored bobber. However, you can utilize the fun colors and interesting shapes bobbers are available in for some creative crafts. Make a unique, memorable gift for the fisherman in your life, decorate for the holiday season or use bobbers to add personality to the table for dinner party. Rethink the use of bobbers and your crafting opportunities are endless.

Christmas Decor

Fill a wreath with bobbers for the fisherman in your life.

Round red and white bobbers are readily available in deparment stores and sporting good retailers. Use these bright bobbers to decorate for the holiday season. Adorn a Christmas tree with bobber ornaments. String fishing line through the small metal loop on top of each bobber. Fill the tree will red and white bobber ornaments of all sizes. Create a matching Christmas bobber wreath for the fisherman in your life. Loop a 6-inch piece of floral wire through a round red and white bobber. Fold the wire at the center and wrap it around a wreath form. Large bobbers should be placed around the wreath first, followed by medium-sized bobbers. Fill in the gaps with small bobbers. Optionally, add a string of Christmas lights around the wreath form before placing the bobbers.

Floating Craft

Make a structure to float on bobbers.

Bobbers are made to float. Use their boyancy for a fun, educational craft young children can make. By removing the metal loop at the top of four round bobbers, you can create a base for a floating structure. Use a hot glue gun to attach wide wooden craft sticks to the top of the four bobbers. Before floating this wooden square on the water, have a child use craft glue and wooden craft sticks to create a ship, animal or other structure. With a string connected to the craft, your child is ready to float the bobber boat down a creek.

Table Adornments

Use an assortment of bobbers to add color to a dinner party.

Themed dinner parties provide a lively conversation piece and a fun atmosphere. Use bobbers for adorning the table of a "Gone Fishing" retirement party or "The Perfect Catch" wedding reception. Lay fish netting in the center of the table and place colorful bobbers in the netting. Wrap brown twine through the bobbers to create a napkin holder. Guests may keep the bobbers as a favor.

Garlands are used to provide color and design to anything from mantles to blank wall spaces. A garland made of bobbers creates a colorlful, unique look for your child's bedroom wall or the fireplace mantle in a fishing cabin. String a variety of colorful bobbers, evenly spaced, onto invisible fishing line or brown twine. Arrange the garland on a fireplace mantle or nail the garland to the wall space in a bedroom to set off a fisherman's motif.
