Dessert Pizza Ideas
Dessert pizza offers a variation on two favorite dishes: pizza and sweets. Most dessert pizzas are made with sugar cookie dough; though you can vary just how sweet you want the dough to be. Fans of chocolate can make chocolate cookie dough as the pizza crust base or incorporate chocolate into the frosting. If you don’t want a very sweet dessert pizza, plain pizza dough will suffice and offer a nice contrast. Does this Spark an idea?

Fruit Pizza
-
A dessert pizza that adds a touch of nutrition is a fruit pizza. A basic sugar cookie dough is a perfect complement to the fruit and a packaged dough makes preparation quick and easy. You can use whipped topping or mix cream cheese and powdered sugar for a thicker “sauce.” Stir in cocoa powder with the topping for a chocolate sauce. Once you’ve baked the dough, about 15 minutes is usually plenty of time; the sauce goes on top and you can add your choice of fruit. Berries are particularly delicious with a chocolate dessert pizza while kiwis and bananas pair nicely with plain dough.
Cookie Pizza
-
Put a twist on a dessert pizza by making it taste like a cookie. If you prefer, a cookie pizza is delicious with a peanut butter dough but you’ll want to warn eaters in case of allergies. Either way, you’ll only need to bake this pizza for about 10 minutes before adding the toppings. Marshmallows, either in miniature or jumbo size cut in half, are sprinkled onto the crust with quite a few chocolate chips. The more chocolaty you want the pizza, the more chips you’ll need. By baking the newly topped pizza for an extra five minutes, the marshmallows and chips melt down to create a gooey and scrumptious topping.

Streusel Pizza
-
Switch up a standard dessert pizza by using a cake mix crust. You’ll want to follow the cake mix instructions but add about a cup of oats to the mixture to make it a crust. Once you’ve added the crust to a pizza plan, this particular blend easily shapes so that you can design an elegant crust. The baking part comes in two forms, first the crust for 10 minutes then the addition of a pie filling of your choice -- such as strawberry, blueberry or apple -- and a streusel topping and bake for another 20 minutes. You’ll be serving a true pizza pie.
Chocolate Pizza
-
For the true chocolate lover, a dessert pizza that is made with chocolate from top to bottom can’t be beat. Melted chocolate chips blend with a dough recipe and when baked create a chocolate crust. Additional melted chips are mixed with cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar to make a chocolate sauce. You can add variety by using both milk and dark chocolate chips. Sprinkle the top of the pizza with chopped nuts or shredded coconut for the finishing dessert pizza touch.
