Invitations
-
Many apocalypse movies include stories of zombies taking over the world. For a zombie theme, print pictures of zombies and write the party details on the back of each picture. Write “Please join ________ and his zombie friends for their last night on earth at an apocalypse party,” or “Please join us for the biggest bash before the big goodbye.” Ask the guests to dress up in their favorite zombie costume and tell them there will be a contest for best zombie attire. Tape a small plastic zombie toy to each invitation, or place zombie stickers all over the envelope or invitation. If you do not want a zombie theme, you can print invitations with words like “End of the World,” “Apocalypse” and “Doomsday” to mail to your party guests.
Decorations
-
Zombie-themed decorations are available at some party supply stores and online. For a nonzombie theme, stick with black or dark blue decorations to create a “dark” atmosphere. Decorate the party for both types of parties with black and blue party decorations, such as balloons, streamers and tableware. Use large plastic zombie toys to create balloon centerpieces for the party tables. Make signs that read “Are we dead yet,” “Apocalypse (name of year),” “Is it the end of the world as we know it” and “Doomsday (name of year)” on large poster board to hang on the walls.

Activities
-
Ask your party guests to sit in a circle. Have everyone share their own version of how, why and if they think the world will end. Tell your guests they can make up a story if they want to be funny. Award prizes for the best, funniest and silliest apocalypse stories. If you hosted a zombie apocalypse party, allow each guest to model his zombie outfit. By a round of applause, award prizes to the scariest, most realistic, best and creepiest zombies.
Games
-
Put a twist on a classic game by playing a game of “Pin the tail on the horsemen” or a game of doomsday charades. The player who pins the tail closest to the correct spot wins a prize. For a game of apocalypse or doomsday charades, write down the names of books or movies that involve the end of the world, such as “The Happening” and “The Day After Tomorrow.” Divide the players into two teams. The players must act out the movies to their teammates. If the team guesses the movie correctly in less than one minute, it earns a point. The team with the most points wins the game.
