Celebrating Halloween at work can be a fun break from the normal routine.

Halloween is not just for kids, and being an adult with a job doesn't mean you can't enjoy the fun. Get into the holiday spirit by bringing the celebration to work for the day. Celebrating Halloween in the workplace creates a break from the normal routine and allows co-workers to have fun together, creating cohesion. Revive the kid in you by bringing back costumes, candy and decorations for the day. Even offices with a small budget can celebrate in style. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Costume Contest

    • What is Halloween without dressing up? Add a fun spin to it by holding a costume contest. Place a jar at the front of the office and remind employees to vote for their favorite costume throughout the day. At the end of the day, announce the winner and award a prize. The prize can be as small as a jar of candy corn or a gift certificate to a restaurant based on your company's budget.

    Desk Decorating

    • Ask your employees to bring supplies to decorate their desks in a Halloween theme. Place bowls of candy on each desk and invite the children of your employees to come in costume and "trick or treat" at each desk. Incentivize them to be creative by offering prizes for the best decorations.

    Halloween Potluck

    • Pass around a signup sheet a week or two before Halloween for a potluck lunch. Be creative and bring Halloween-inspired dishes. Regular soda can become witches' brew with a little dry ice, or cupcakes frosted in orange with a green candy on top look like pumpkins. Doughnuts, chili and bread bowls are all fun fall-themed foods.

    Candy Counting

    • Place several jars of pre-counted candy in a common area. Allow co-workers to vote on how many candies are in each jar for a chance to win it. This activity is fun without being disruptive to the work day, and there are multiple winners.

    Pumpkin Carving Contest

    • Provide the pumpkins and the tools to let your employees and co-workers show just how creative they are. Anything goes for this contest, so you don't have to stick to just spooky or happy faces. Allow everyone to vote for their two favorites and tally up the votes to determine the winner. If you choose to allow children at this event, hold a separate contest for them.
