Your occupational attributes should relate to the job you're applying for.

Your resume is a professional representation of your occupational experience and attributes. The qualities you identify on a resume are what prospective employers will review in order to determine how suitable you are for a particular job. The goal of designing a resume is to impress reviewers to the point that they are intrigued enough to invite you for an interview. As such, it is important provide them with essential attributes that you possess.

  1. Organizational Attributes

    • Prospective employers appreciate applicants who possess organizational attributes. Organizational attributes should be listed as the qualities you have to offer the company in the form of organizational skills, time management, ability to prioritize and your know-how for maintaining an orderly environment. As such, list occupational experience in which you had to demonstrate such organizational attributes. For instance, your former employer may have put you in charge of organizing committees and fundraisers, or prioritizing projects. Or, perhaps these were simply the skills that were necessary to complete the job itself.

    Human Relation Attributes

    • Human relation attributes are significant in the workforce, because they have to do with your ability to get along with others. In terms of your previous occupational experience, list all of your human relation attributes, such as communication, teamwork and managing or supervising others. If you had a position where you served as a mentor, put this on the resume as well. Discuss your ability to work well with people of different cultural backgrounds, genders and ages. Specify the type of communication skills you possess, such as oral or written, as well as what qualities make you stand out from other applicants in relation to these attributes.

    Technical Attributes

    • The working world is full of technical advancements and is constantly improving and changing. On your resume, list the occupational attributes you have in relation to technical skills. Technical skills let prospective employers know that you understand how to work with electronic or digital environments and products, as well as navigate through systems, which makes you a valuable employee. Specifically, list computer programs that you are proficient in, the types of electronic machines you are familiar with--such as copy machines, faxes and video teleconferencing equipment--and talk about the types of successes you have had thanks to your technical skills. For instance, if you designed or built a software database in your most recent job, mention this on the resume.

    Personal Attributes

    • Your personal attributes have to do with you as a person. On a resume, list the qualities you possess that make you an ideal candidate for prospective employers. Examples of personal attributes include being a hard worker, dedicated, highly motivated, goal-oriented, focused on success, an independent thinker, creative and a self-starter. Relate these skills to occupational experience where you had to employ them, such as if you had to manage yourself, create your own goals or use your creative skills to get a job done.
