Party Ideas for a Boy's Ice Skating Party

An ice skating party can be a fun idea for the boy in your life.

Ice skating parties can be fun for boys of all ages. Whether you're renting out a rink for a large group or just showing up for an open skating session, you can shape the party around your boy's love of skating. Having cold weather foods and ice skating-themed goody bags will be a nice touch for the party.

Plan Ahead

Ice rinks are often booked regularly for hockey games and other events, so you'll want to give yourself plenty of time when picking a date for the party. Call around to rinks weeks or months before the planned party to see what their availability and rates are. Some rinks may have a special room available for serving cake and a meal. Local rinks may also have open skating sessions available where you can show up with your group and enjoy the ice, though these often don't allow for the intimacy of a private party.

Activities and Skate Rentals

Skating will be the main activity for your party, so you don't need to plan much else. Depending on the ability level of your group, you may want to have an instructor on hand to show everyone the ropes. A local high school hockey player may be able to help at a more affordable rate than a professional coach or instructor. If the rink will allow it, have some hockey sticks and pucks on hand for the boys to play with.
