You know that your frizzy hair has the potential for smooth waves, but no matter how you style it, your hair ends up frazzled by the afternoon. Whether you were born with flyaway strands or they're a product of heat and humidity, rethinking your styling methods and products is the key to achieving flawless locks. A few tweaks to your routine will give you the movie-star glamour you crave and leave you with soft, cascading waves.

Wash and condition your hair as usual. Look for thick, cream-based conditioners meant for dry hair to infuse it with extra moisture and weight. When you get out of the shower, pat your hair dry with a towel and comb through a leave-in conditioner. Finish with a frizz-free serum, concentrating at the roots and the tips of your hair.

Wrap an absorbent towel around your hair by flipping your head upside down, wrapping it around the back of your head and twisting it on top of your head. Proceed with other parts of your beauty routine, such as applying your makeup and getting dressed, to allow your hair a chance to dry while the towel soaks up the excess moisture.

Unwrap your hair and allow it to dry naturally. While the hair dryer is a time saver, it can also rough up hair cuticles, turning soft waves into wiry frizziness, so avoid blow drying whenever possible. Build enough time into your routine to allow your hair to air dry or wash it the night before.

Mist a heat-protecting spray over the top of your head and flat iron from the roots to the top of the ears only. Flat-ironing gives hair a silky and glossy appearance and smooths the hair cuticle for less frizz.

Spray hair all over with a flexible hold hairspray. Curl two-inch sections with a large-barrel curling iron to create smooth, voluminous waves. Let the curls cool and brush through lightly with your fingers. Finish with a final coat of of flexible hold hairspray.
