GE Profile washing machines are a common line of consumer washers. These washing machines operate in a similar manner to other home use units. As you use the washer, stalls and pauses may occur during the wash cycle. While some of these instances are normal, others may require some troubleshooting to fix. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. During Wash Cycle

    • If your GE Profile washer stalls or pauses during the cycle, you need to look and confirm which cycle you have selected. If “prewash” or “auto soak” is selected, you have no need for alarm. With each of these cycles, it is normal for the washer to pause or stall because the cycles are designed to clean the laundry with less wear. The washer should resume working just fine.

    During Spin Cycle

    • Regardless of which cycle you have selected for your laundry, a pause or stall during the spin cycle is normal. Your GE Profile washer does this in an attempt to more efficiently remove the soapy water in the washer. The washer should resume functioning as intended.

    Power Supply

    • If a power supply interruption happens, your washer can stall and not resume normal operation. Give the power cord a firm push into the outlet in case a lose plug is to blame. If that is not the problem, check the house circuit breaks or fuses. Replace or reset as needed to reconnect the power supply to the washer. You might need to reset the machine once power is restored.

    Needs Reset

    • If the electronic controls on the washer freeze up and cause it to stall, you have to reset the machine. To do the reset, disconnect the washer’s power cord from the wall outlet and leave it unplugged for two full minutes. Once that time period as passed, reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet. Press the “start” button and the washer should resume operating normally.
