Is There Any Way to Reduce the Noise From an Oreck Vacuum Cleaner?
Oreck manufactures products including vacuums, floor scrubbing machines, air filtration systems and cleaning products to use with their equipment. The Oreck vacuum is only 8 pounds, making cleaning and carrying it easier than other vacuum cleaners. If the vacuum is making noise, there are several ways to reduce the noise. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Finding the Noise
-
In most cases, the noise comes from the base of the Oreck, which holds all of its mechanical parts for the machine to run. Use the machine for a few minutes, then turn it off and unplug it from the wall. If the machine is hot, it’s most likely a mechanical problem. If the machine is warm, the noise is most likely caused by an obstruction in the brush or suction area of the machine.
Limited Lifetime Warranty
-
Oreck vacuums come with a limited, lifetime warranty. The warranty covers a variety of defective parts, including the vacuum’s motor. Take the vacuum to a local Oreck store for free service and parts covered under its warranty. The warranty does not cover general maintenance and repair such as the brush roll and vacuum bags.
-
Noise Not Covered by the Warranty
-
If the noise is not coming from the Oreck vacuum’s motor, you can find the noise in areas not covered under the warranty. Because the vacuum is small and compact, even small obstructions such as a rubber band stuck on the brush roll can cause loud noises. To remove obstructions from the brush roll, disassemble the base plate by removing the 5 screws holding it together. After removing the base plate, remove the belt and brush to look for obstructions. Remove all obstructions from the brush roll, including cutting away hair and string with scissors. Reassemble the vacuum after you finish removing the obstructions.
Preventive Maintenance
-
Oreck suggests performing preventive maintenance at least once a month. This includes checking for obstructions such as hair, string and excessive lint, and wiping the base of the vacuum with a damp cloth. Other maintenance is shaking out the outer bag on the unit if it becomes dusty.
