Keep lipstick selections light and close to your natural skin tone.

Wearing makeup can enhance your features, but sometimes it’s best to let makeup take a backseat to natural beauty. The barely there makeup look offers a way to enhance your features and keep your look natural at the same time. There are a few tricks and techniques you can use to achieve a natural-looking makeup application. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Cleansing

    • When your face has an oily sheen and debris, it will affect your makeup in the worst ways. For example, it can cause your foundation to slide around your face and collect in the creases around your nose, mouth and eyes. Clean your face before applying makeup for the most natural and attractive coverage. Use face scrubs or gentle soap, warm water and a thick washcloth. Use the washcloth to buff your skin; this will remove dead skin cells and restore a pleasant glow to your face.

    Concealer

    • Concealer hides blemishes and evens your skin tone, but too much of it makes you look unnatural. Examine your face for trouble spots such as hollow areas or dark marks under your eyes. Apply primer that matches your skin tone to those areas to obscure them. Apply a semi-transparent layer of concealer to make the rest of your skin tone even and allow the rest of your makeup to apply well. Semi-transparent concealer offers a natural look because it won’t cover cute marks such as freckles.

    Blush

    • Adding a slight tint to your cheeks gives you an attractive look, but too much of it placed incorrectly can make your face seem like it’s glowing red. When applying the blush, lightly wipe your brush across the red powder and dab the brush against your hand to remove excess powder. Lightly apply the color on your cheekbones, placing it high on the cheekbones to avoid making your face look hollow. Apply the blush sparingly; there should only be the faintest bit of color, which looks more natural and cute.

    Eye Makeup

    • When accentuating the look of your eyes in a natural way, remember to keep it nice and simple. Instead of using black eyeliner, use eyeliner that is just a few shades darker than your actual skin tone. This gives your eyes a dramatic and deep look while still looking natural. Use eye shadow that has a tone close to your natural color as well. Apply a darker color right on the top of your lid and a lighter color that reaches from the edge of your eyelid to your eyebrows; this will give your eyes an open and bright look.
