Does Rhapsody Work With iTunes?
Rhapsody music downloads work differently than songs purchased through iTunes. Rather than downloading to a specific program, Rhapsody files go to a zip file on your hard drive. Once you unzip the music, the files are easily added to and played from your iTunes library. Rhapsody cannot connect directly to iTunes.

Getting Rhapsody Music
-
Rhapsody music files are purchased directly on the Rhapsody website. The songs you buy on Rhapsody are saved to your computer's hard drive in a zip file. Once your Rhapsody zip file is downloaded to your hard drive, the music can be transferred to iTunes. The site also offers a monthly subscription, which lets you stream an unlimited number of songs for one flat monthly fee. Streamed songs cannot be transferred to iTunes.
Unzipping Rhapsody Music
-
Rhapsody songs are transferred to your hard drive in the form of a zip file, which means that the data is compressed. Before you can listen to or move a zip file, it must be unzipped. Locate the folder containing your newly purchased Rhapsody music on your hard drive –typically it is located in your "Downloads" folder – and right click on the folder. Select "Unzip" from the menu. When the files are unzipped, they appear separately in a new folder.

Adding Files to iTunes
-
Your iTunes library will accommodate music files from a number of sources, including Rhapsody, as long as they are in a format iTunes can read, such as MP3 or AAC. Add the files to iTunes by opening your iTunes program and clicking the "File" tab at the top of the window. Choose "Add file to library" from the drop-down menu and use the pop-up screen to navigate to the folder containing your Rhapsody file. Click once on the file, or hold down the "Control" key while you click multiple files, and then choose "Open" to add the files to iTunes.
Considerations
-
Once your files are in iTunes, a backup copy still remains on your computer hard drive. If you delete the copy from your hard drive, iTunes will no longer be able to find or play the songs. Once your Rhapsody songs are transferred to iTunes, they can be added to an iPod or iPhone via sync just like songs purchased in the iTunes Store.
