Help With Lady Luck in "Final Fantasy X 2"

Lady Luck is a dress sphere in “Final Fantasy X-2,” also called FFX-2. Dress spheres are similar to the job system in previous “Final Fantasy” games, but allow more flexibility. By putting on a costume related to the job, your character gains the ability to do that job. Lady Luck is a general dress sphere, which any character can equip. However, unlike other spheres, Lady Luck relies heavily on luck-based attacks, and can be unpredictable.

  1. Acquisition

    • To get the Lady Luck dress sphere you must defeat Shinra at the Sphere Break coin game in chapters three or five of “Final Fantasy X-2.” First, win three matches in the tournament in Luca to face Shinra, the reigning Sphere Break Champion. Focus on getting a combo each turn to score high enough. Save your game after two matches at the stadium to make it easier to re-enter if you lose against Shinra the first time. Beating Shinra in chapter 3 is considerably easier than beating him in the second tournament, in chapter five.

    Benefits

    • Lady Luck requires few Magic Points, but has a high maximum MP, which makes this dress sphere a good choice for healing. The dress sphere's Reels ability, which produces a random effect, gives a character wearing Lady Luck a wide variety of attacks and good versatility. The Dice ability produces long chains of effects, which combine well with normal attacks to produce large amounts of damage. Lady Luck also has a high evasion rating, making it good for avoiding physical attacks. The Bribe ability allows you to give money to one enemy to get it to leave the battle.

    Disadvantages

    • This dress sphere has a relatively low maximum Hit Point threshold, and weak attacks until you can learn the Critical ability. It also has low defense, making it a relatively poor combat sphere. Dice attacks rely completely on luck, and Reels require significant amounts of time and depend partially on your reflexes. Lady Luck does poorly as a choice for fighting characters and works best in support roles only.

    Passive Abilities

    • In addition to the active abilities, such as Reels, Dice and Bribe, Lady Luck also provides some passive abilities. These include Critical, which turns all hits into critical hits; Double EXP, which doubles your earned experience points after the battle; SOS Spellspring, which gives you free spells when your HP is low; Gillionaire, which doubles money earned after each battle; and Double Items, which doubles the items you earn with each battle. You do not need to activate these abilities, but you do need to spend Ability Points to learn them.
