Roller Skate Lacing Techniques
Tying the laces on your roller skates properly is important to ensure that they are correctly fitted when you go skating. A loose lace can cause injury if it allows the skate to fall off or sit incorrectly on your foot. A number of different lacing techniques can be used to tie the roller skate laces and have them look stylish. Does this Spark an idea?

Zipper Lacing
-
The zipper lace design locks the laces together at each eyelet. This allows the lower laces to remain tight without slipping when you are adjusting the upper laces. Feed the lace up through the bottom two loops on each side. Bring each end up through the loop and under the main trunk of the lace. Cross the end over to the next eyelet up on the other side. Repeat the process on each level until you reach the top. Tie the laces together at the top in a normal bow.
Knotted Lacing
-
Knotted lacing adds an overhand knot between each set of eyelets, keeping the lacing firm together. Feed the lace up through the bottom two loops on each side. Cross the ends of the lacing over each other and over each other again to create the overhand knot. Pass the end of the lace into the next eyelet up on the opposing side to the one it came out of. Repeat the process on each level until you reach the top. Tie the laces together at the top in a normal bow.

Lattice Lacing
-
The lattice design created a cross-section lattice in the middle of the skate. Feed the lace up through the bottom two loops on each side. Pass the lace from each side into the eyelet three places up on the opposite side. Bring each lace back under to the eyelet two places down on the opposite side and up through the loop. Repeat the process, weaving the top laces in and out of each other to create the lattice effect. Repeat the process on each level until you reach the top. Tie the laces together at the top in a normal bow.
Bar Lacing
-
Bar lacing eliminates the diagonal thread under the lacing, which can reduce pressure on the top part of the foot. Feed the lace down through the bottom two loops on each side. Run one end under and up into the eyelet directly above it. Run the other end under and up through the eyelet two places above it. Cross each lace over down into the opposite eyelet. Repeat the procedure up the eyelets, alternating which end skips one eyelet hole each time. Tie the laces together at the top in a normal bow.
