Natural Items to Lighten Hair Color
Lightening your hair is one of the easiest ways to brighten up your hairstyle. Store bought hair dyes, however, are often expensive and damaging to your hair. The chemicals contained in hair dyes are very harsh, and after many dyes your hair can become dry and breakages often occur. Lemon Juice & Conditioner

Lemon juice is a traditional natural hair lightener which works very effectively. Pure lemon juice, however does have a tendency to dry out hair, so it needs to be mixed with other ingredients. Mix the juice of one lemon with a 1/4 cup of hair conditioner and 3/4 cup of water. Pour the mixture into a spritz bottle and spray it over your hair. Try to avoid your scalp. Leave the lemon juice on your hair for two to three hours, then rinse it out. Do this once or twice per week. It may take a month or so for the hair to fully lighten.
Tea Rinse

Wash your hair with a moisturizing shampoo. Straight after you shampoo, condition your hair, and make sure that you leave the conditioner to act for at least two minutes before you rinse it off again. Towel dry your hair. Make pot of chamomile tea and leave it to cool. Pour the tea into a spritz bottle. Spray the tea all over damp hair, and leave it on your hair for about 10 minutes. Rinse the tea out. Use this treatment each time your hair starts becoming dull again to provide a lift.

Honey

When mixed with water, honey contains a natural peroxide which means that it works very efficiently for hair lightening. Mix a 3/4 cup of honey with 1/2 cup of conditioner. Add the honey and the conditioner to 3/4 cup of water. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and leave them to sit for about half an hour. This will allow the peroxide in the honey to develop. Apply the mixture to your hair using either your fingers or a hair dye applicator brush. Leave the mixture on for about five hours, and then wash it out thoroughly.
Rhubarb

Chop 1/4 cup of rhubarb and add it to 2 cups of boiling water. Boil the rhubarb for 30 minutes. Strain the mixture and allow it to cool. Pour the mixture into a water spritz bottle and spray it all over your hair. Leave the mixture on for 10 minutes and then rinse. This treatment will give you hair an instant glow. Repeat this treatment as needed.
Sunlight

The sun is one of the most effective ways to lighten your hair. Be careful though, as the sunlight can damage your hair and to your skin. Before your go out in the sun, apply sunscreen all over your skin and spray your hair with a leave-in conditioner. Three hours of sunlight on your hair per week will produce a significant result.
