Girls enjoy making fashionable jewelry that can be worn to school.

Finding an appropriate craft for a high school girl can be a challenge. Many teenage girls have grown past simple art projects such as collages and paper crafts. Girls of this age are drawn to crafts that have a tangible, useful purpose. As such, they might enjoy making cute crafts for clothing, jewelry and accessories.

  1. Decoupage Shoes

    • Designing their own shoes lets high school girls feel like fashion designers and helps them keep their feet in style. Start with a plain white pair of sneakers to serve as your canvas. Gather pieces of colored tissue paper, beads and other decorative items for the shoes. Gloss the shoes with a thin, even layer of glue. Apply the colored decorations as you see fit. Let the shoes fully dry before wearing.

    Notebook Covers

    • Most high school girls have a handful of notebooks to organize their schoolwork. With a few simple touches, a high schooler can add color and style to her notebooks. Cut out a piece of colored construction paper that is the same size as your notebook cover. This will serve as the backdrop for your artwork. Tape or glue the paper over the cover. Decorate the notebook cover with colored gel pens, glitter glue, stencils and more. Add your name and the class subject to the cover. Use a different colored construction paper for each subject to easily differentiate between classes.

    Safety Pin Bracelet

    • Fancy jewelry is too expensive for many high school girls. This alternative bracelet craft is cheaper and gives you more flexibility and control over the design. Open a set of safety pins. Loop an assortment of colored, gold or silver beads over a pin and close the pin into the head. Repeat the same process for as many safety pins needed to loop around your wrist. Take two strands of beading elastic. Run one strand through each end of the safety pin and tie off the strings once you loop through all the pins. The result is a stylish, homemade bracelet.

    Scrapbook

    • Scrapbooking is an activity with no age restrictions. High school girls will find the craft is a fun way to document the school year. Use a blank scrapbook or form the pages using old cereal boxes. Cut out the two long faces of the cereal box and cover them with construction paper. Punch holes in the pages and put them a binder. The scrapbook can be filled with pictures, class projects and other mementos from the school year. Start with a couple pages dedicated to summer activities, then fill remaining pages with items from school dances, sports and other extracurricular activities.
