Baby showers for moms who are expecting twins can be twice as fun as the typical party. There’s no better way to show off a “two for one” theme than with deliciously decorated cupcakes. With bakeries dedicated to cupcakes popping up in neighborhoods everywhere, you can either purchase your cupcakes or, with some basic cupcake batter, a little confectioner’s sugar and some creativity, whip up your own little bites of heaven for your guests. Two Peas in a Pod
- Create cupcakes that take the expression “two peas in a pod” literally. Make vanilla cupcakes, cover them in white buttercream icing. Form two balls of fondants into the shape of two baby heads. Use frosting to paint faces on the heads and put a green fondant shaped like a pea pod underneath them, so that it looks like they’re snuggling under a pea pod blanket.
Baby Blocks
- Build baby blocks shaped cupcakes, making two of each kind for twins. Bake a white sheet cake and cut it up into block shaped cupcakes. Cover each block with fondant icing piped in pastel colors on each side. Decorate with icing drawn as letters, numbers or cute images for the top and four sides.
Babies in a Blanket
- Create twin babies sharing a blanket on each cupcake. Bake chocolate or classic white cupcakes with white buttercream frosting. Top each cupcake with fondant shaped like two little baby heads with blue frosting dots for eyes, under a pink or blue fondant blanket.
Duckies
- Rubber duckies are the perfect baby shower motif for cupcakes. For a unique twin-themed idea, bake two kinds of chocolate cupcakes, dark and white chocolate. Add pink and blue frosting, some sprinkles and top each cupcake with two little rubber ducky bath toys.
Noah's Ark
- The twin animal theme of Noah's Ark lends itself perfectly to a twin baby shower. Use any basic cupcake recipe to make these cute cupcakes, then decorate using piped icing to create matching animals on top. Each guest will be given an animal cupcake that has a perfect twin.
