Toddler Prayer Crafts
Prayer plays a vital role in many of the world’s religions. Teaching a child to pray can be easily accomplished with the support of an adult, or even an older child. Crafts provide a hands-on approach to learning whether the lesson is religious in nature or even educational. The following crafts can be created at home or in a classroom setting. Templates can be pre-cut and sorted for large classes.

Prayer Book
-
Crafts help toddlers to learn and remember lessons of every nature -- creating a prayer book to help remind your child or the children in your class to pray is no exception. Trace the child’s hands onto colorful paper and then cut them out. Use these as a template and cut out several pieces of white paper. Punch two holes through all the pages. Place the white pages between the colored pages and secure with a ribbon. Let the child decorate the outside with stickers, paint or even clipart. Write down the child’s prayer requests on the blank sheets of paper.
Prayer Rock
-
A prayer rock can be used for any denomination or religion. It is simply placed in one’s pocket as a reminder to pray. Choose a small smooth stone for each participating child. Cover the table with plastic tablecloth or newspaper. Let the children paint the rocks and set them out to air dry. Meanwhile, cut small squares of tissue paper, wrapping paper, or cloth to wrap the rocks in after they dry. Secure with a coordinating ribbon. Sayings, verses, or prayers can be printed onto cardstock and tied to the ribbon.

Prayer Box
-
Sometimes children have a hard time requesting prayer for their issues. This can be remedied by creating a prayer box. You can use any type of box. Cover the box with wrapping paper, or even pictures drawn by your child. Cut a slot into the top of the box so the child can insert his prayer requests. Parents can pull out the requests and read them to help the children pray. If you use the box in a classroom setting, prayer requests can be left in the box and the class can pray for them as a unit.
Prayer Bear
-
A prayer bear can be a fun way to remind your toddler to pray every day. Simply draw a teddy bear onto a large piece of construction paper or cardboard. Let your child color or paint the image. Glue the bear onto a large piece of poster board. Take care not to glue the bear’s paws so that you can slip the child’s prayer requests into the bear’s arms.
