Bridal Shower Cocktail Hour Appetizer Ideas
Giving a bridal shower helps celebrate the bride-to-be and her relationships with her friends. There are many different types of festivities that can be celebrated for a bridal shower, but a cocktail party keeps it simple and elegant. Serve appetizers during your cocktail party that are in keeping with your theme and go well with your choice of cocktails.
-
Theme Food
-
If you've chosen a theme for the bridal shower cocktail party, offer appetizers within that realm. For example, if the shower has a Hawaiian theme, serve fruit kebabs in dishes made of pineapple or coconut shells. For a Mexican theme, offer nachos, miniature tacos or churros for your guests to nosh on while they socialize. A little flag stuck in the food makes it a bit more festive.
Cheeses
-
Cheese platters are usually a popular choice for cocktail parties and with good reason. They are especially versatile, which allows you to easily accomodate the tastes of a variety of guests. Purchase two or three types of cheeses, such as Gouda, goat or American, and cut them into cubes. You can put them onto crackers or small bits of bread for your guests, or give your guests the go-ahead to pair the cheese with the breaded items.
-
Fondue
-
Fondue is always a great choice for the bride with a sweet tooth or paired with sweeter, "girlie" drinks. You can purchase chocolate fountains at almost any cooking supply store, or you can opt to simply leave the fondue out in a bowl with a small flame underneath it. Guests can them dip fruits, marshmallows and candy into the fondue for a chocolate treat.
Light Options
-
Remember that appetizers at a bridal shower shouldn't be too "heavy," yet even so, you'll want to consider adding some lighter options for guests who are watching their weight or simply aren't in the mood to eat a lot. For lighter options, consider ordering spring rolls from a local Asian eatery with dipping sauce or putting out shrimp with cocktail sauce. Guests may enjoy serve-yourself salads or vegetables and dip.
