Makeup Styles for Fair Skin

When it comes to fair skin, the natural look is always the best look.

Applying makeup to a fair-skinned face can be a tricky affair. Use makeup that matches the natural skin tone, bringing out the natural softness of the colors rather than contrasting with them, which can lead to an unnatural and over-the-top look. When it comes to fair skin, less is always more. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Foundation

    • If you can leave the house without foundation then do so, as the orange tinge in many foundations can make pale-skinned people look too orange. If you want to cover up imperfections in the skin, then use a concealer and dab it over the problem areas. For those of you who do want to wear foundation, make sure you choose one with yellow or beige tints which will bring out the warmth in your skin and cover up any redness. Alternatively, for some color you could always add a tiny bit of bronzer to the temple, forehead and cheeks, but remember, less is more.

    Lips and Blusher

    • Make sure that the blusher you choose is a natural color and doesn't contrast too much with your own skin tone or you could end up looking clownish. The best colors for pale skin are peach colors, but avoid rosy colors as these can bring out the redness in a face. Lips should also be colored and can look good natural, peach or rosy. If you want to put in a bit of color then you can always add some coral, berry or red-browns to your lips. Make sure that it blends in well with your hair color; otherwise it could look over-the-top.

    Eyes

    • Light-skinned people's eyes stand out on their own, so there is no need to intensify them by adding a dark eyeshadow which can result in the makeup looking heavy. Try using neutral colors, or even a white or champagne should be enough. If you want to use darker shades, then avoid black and stick to light brown or grey. When it comes to eyelashes the world is your oyster. Use as little or as much as you like; both look attractive on fair skin.

    Eyebrows

    • Many light-skinned people have very fair eyebrows which can be difficult to see. If you want them to stand out then apply some color, but make sure that it is no more than one shade darker than your natural eyebrow color. Color in the eyebrows with the correct coloring pencil and then apply some hairspray onto your finger and brush over the eyebrows so they set in shape.
