Birthday Corsage Craft
Corsages are a beautiful addition to any birthday party. They can be made of fresh or artificial flowers, ribbons and sometimes beads. Traditionally, a woman wears a corsage on her wrist or pinned to her dress. A birthday corsage can become a part of the celebration as a craft guests can participate in, or they can be a lovely gift to the birthday girl and her guests.

Fresh Flower Corsages
-
Fresh flower corsages are a beautiful accessory for a party, but are not long-lasting. If you do not mind that the flower corsage will not make a permanent take-home party favor or memorabilia, then use fresh flowers as they are vibrant and fragrant. Choose one to five flowers for each corsage and wire them together. Leave some of the original flower leaves, if you can, to add more color. Finish with a bow and attach them to an elastic wristband with metal prongs, available at craft stores. Sprinkle a little glitter on the corsages to really make them sparkle. Consider making the birthday girl's corsage more extravagant with more flowers or a different type of flower, so she stands out in the party crowd.
Artificial Flower Corsages
-
Artificial flower corsages are best if you want guests to be able to take their corsage home as a keepsake. Also, if you are having guests make their own corsages as a party activity, they will find working with artificial flowers easier. They are also much less expensive. Make the corsages in the same way as you would with fresh flowers, by wiring them together and adding a bow. Attach the finished corsages to elastic wristbands. If you cannot find wristbands with metal prongs, use a hot glue gun or safety pins to attach the artificial floral arrangements to the bands.

Ribbon Corsages
-
Corsages can be made entirely of ribbon. Choose a bow color that matches the decor of the party. Experiment with different bow patterns until you find one that you like for the corsages. You can find different patterns for bows online or use a bow maker machine. Ribbon that is lined with wire is easier to mold into different bow shapes and keeps its shape better than regular ribbon. Consider making the birthday girl's bow different or larger than the others.
Beaded Corsages
-
Add beads to any corsage. Bead a piece of wire, knotting the wire around the end bead. Attach the wire to the corsage. Allow the line of beads to fall naturally or shape the beads into a spiral or zigzag. You can also bead the elastic wrist band to make the corsages more elegant or buy a beaded wristband at your local craft store.
