Facebook Text Tricks
Facebook prohibits HTML and scripts, so users are limited in how they can express themselves in conversations with friends. Nonetheless, there are ways to play with ordinary text. You can add novelty to your statuses, chat and user interface with a text trick or two.

Flipped, Reversed and Upside-Down Text
-
You can simulate change the appearance of ordinary text with the help of free text tools online. There are different ways to manipulate text for Facebook or anywhere else. You can turn letters upside down or reverse the order of letters in each word. Or you can rotate whole words or sentences by 180 degrees so they look flipped. For example, in SunnyNeo.com, enter your message in the box provided, click "Fix it," select the flipped text and copy and paste it into your Facebook status, chat or a message window.
Character Symbols
-
Most Facebook users know how to use standard emoticons -- but not everyone knows that you can use symbols besides the supported emoticons. Unlike Facebook smileys, these are technically text characters, not graphics. You can insert them directly into your Facebook status if you know the Alt codes for the characters you want to use To use Alt codes, turn on the Number Lock in the numeric keypad of your keyboard, press the "Alt" key and the decimal code for the symbol you want to use. For example, to invoke the heart symbol, press "Alt" and the number 3. Wait a few moments for the symbol to appear. You can also open Character Map in Windows, pick a font and browse its "Unicode Subrange" category for symbols. You can use symbols in Facebook statuses, chat and private messaging.

Fancy Text
-
Facebook supports dozens of languages. Some of these are more fun than anything else, such as the "Pirate" language. Turning on the pirate tongue will change the "Help" menu to "Mayday" and "Info" becomes the "Cap'n's Log." To change the language, click "Home" on the menu, click "Account Settings" and then click "Edit" next to "Language." Select "English (PIrate)." You can also select other fancy language styles such as "lingua latina" for Latin or "English (upside down)" for upside-down text display. Note that changing your Facebook account language can make it difficult for you to navigate the site.
ASCII Art
-
ASCII art is is the use of characters and symbols to create pictures. Facebook can display ASCII art since only normal text is used. You can make your own pictures by experimenting with letters, numbers and symbols on the keyboard, or by using additional character symbols available in the Windows Character Map. But a quicker way to do it is to copy and paste ready-made Facebook ASCII art that you can find in various Facebook user blogs. When copying text-based imagery into your status, check the result carefully. Some artwork that are not arranged specifically for Facebook may appear distorted.
