Mummy Art Project
Art projects that showcase mummies can easily be incorporated into a history lesson about the ancient Egyptians or even can be an art project or gift for someone during the Halloween season. Any age group can enjoy this mummified project, however it is mainly the children that will enjoy wrapping up their very own mummy.

Materials
-
Creating your own mummy pin needs just a few materials and the project is flexible depending on what materials you already have on hand. A wooden clothespin or craft stick acts as the mummy’s body. Tissues, tissue paper or even gauze can be used as the wrapping for the mummy. You will also need Scissors, glue, small craft eyes and a safety pin to construct a mummy pin.
Preparation
-
Cut strips of gauze or tissue paper into small one-half-inch or 1-inch strips. Each strip should be about four inches in length. If you are opting to use tissues, rip the tissues so that you get the most length out of each piece. Have the rest of the materials in place and easily accessible as this project tends to be messy because of the glue.

Construction
-
Cover the back piece of the clothespin or craft stick with glue. Wrap the strips of gauze, tissue paper or pieces of tissue around the clothespin or craft stick. When you begin with a new strip, add a small amount of glue to the end so that the new piece will adhere to the previous piece. Press the strips firmly down while wrapping. Keep wrapping your mummy until it is completely covered. Add the small craft eyes at the top of your mummy pin. Place a small amount of glue to your pin and adhere it to the back of the clothespin or craft stick.
Design Ideas
-
This mummy pin project does necessarily have to remain in pin form. You can easily glue this mummy to the outside part of a picture frame for an instant Halloween decoration. Make a few mummies to represent each member of your family, glue to a piece of black or orange cardstock, label each mummy member and display them in a shadow box during Halloween.
