Make reindeer footprint crafts a Christmas tradition.

Though you may continue to celebrate Christmas as an adult, the excitement of Santa Claus and his reindeer is reserved for little ones who truly believe. Capture Christmas memories by making reindeer footprint crafts with your children. Keep the completed crafts with the rest of your Christmas decorations. No matter how much time passes, every year you will be reminded of Christmases when your children were small and Christmas was magical.

  1. Poster Paint Footprint Craft

    • Use poster paints and paper to make a reindeer footprint craft you can hang on a Christmas tree. Dip a child’s foot in a puddle of brown paint and stamp the foot on a piece of white paper. Turn the footprint so that the toes are at the top. Draw antlers at the top sides of the footprint. Dip a thumb in black paint and press it on top the heel of the footprint as a nose. Draw two black dots for eyes. Punch a hole in the paper to thread a ribbon through for hanging on the tree.

    Felt Footprint

    • A felt reindeer foot craft is less messy than any paint version. Trace the child’s foot on a piece of paper and cut the footprint out. Use straight pins to secure the paper footprint onto a piece of brown felt. Use the footprint as a template to cut out the brown felt. Cut antlers out of dark brown felt and use fabric glue to attach them to the top sides of the felt footprint. Use fabric marker to draw on eyes and a nose. Reuse the paper footprint template to create as many reindeer as desired.

    Reindeer Tracks

    • Teach kids about reindeer tracks by comparing little kid footprints to reindeer footprints. Unroll a sheet of butcher paper and tape down the edges. Have a child dip his feet in a puddle of poster paint and walk across the paper. After wiping the child’s feet clean, show him a picture of deer tracks, which are shaped like hearts. Cut a piece of craft foam into a heart shaped deer hoof. Have the child dip the foam deer hoof in paint and stamp it along the butcher paper.

    Reindeer on Canvas

    • Decorate a pillowcase, canvas bag or apron with a reindeer by dipping the foot in brown fabric paint and stamping it on upside-down fabric. Turn the fabric right-side up and use fabric markers to draw antlers extending from the top sides of the footprint, eyes at the middle of the footprint and a nose at the heel of the footprint.
