Grants for Horse Boarding in Connecticut
In Connecticut, individuals who need financial assistance to build or renovate barns, stables and other facilities to board horses apply for grants from state and federal government agencies. Grant recipients use funds to pay for land and farm business improvements. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD.gov), sponsors the Community Development Block Grant Program. Grants are awarded to cities and counties in Connecticut with over 50,000 and 200,000 residents, respectively, to improve the economic and living conditions for its residents. Individuals who own businesses such as horse farms with less than five employees can apply for grants to build facilities to board their horses. Connecticut farmers apply for grants to cover capital projects such as facility construction, renovation and expansion projects for their horses. Site improvements are also covered under this grant program. Grants must be used on facilities with life expectancies of at least 10 years.
Farm Viability Program

Another state grant program for Connecticut farmers to build horse boarding facilities is the Farm Viability Program. Sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture, grants are awarded to applicants to pay for capital projects such as building and rehabilitating farm facilities. This grant program requires farmers to match at least 50 percent of the award amounts with funds from other sources. Non-profit farmers have to match 40 percent.
